WILDE BICYCLE Future Proof Fork - Sparkle Black

Ideally, Wilde Bicycle would like everyone who buys a Dark Star or other hardtail frame to also get this Future Proof Fork, because we hate the idea that mountain bike standards are changing so quickly that a new mountain bike will be "outdated" in five years.

However, this problem is easily solved. Pair it with a rigid fork and you can continue to use this bike as a useful transportation and bikepacking tool. Have you noticed over the past few years that 30-year-old 26-inch wheeled hardtail MTBs have been rebuilt and are now riding vibrantly around town? The rigid fork combination is pretty similar, but with the advancements in modern MTB geometry and technology, it's a lot more fun and playful.

The Future Proof Fork's axle-to-crown length is 501mm, which is the same as a 120mm suspension fork (531mm ATC) minus 25% (30mm) of sag. For us, 501mm is the ideal baseline for optimizing bike control and is also the optimal length for a rigid fork.

However, for some reason, many rigid fork manufacturers still use a 483-490mm axle to crown length. Wilde Bicycle believes this is a remnant of past standards designed to accommodate 100mm or 80mm of suspension. Since many hardtail MTBs used by many riders have at least 120mm of travel, we feel that a 501mm length is more practical and best suited to modern frames.
